An Unborn's Plea...

Staying in your nurturing cradle,
Counting away to daylight,
I feel a poke so cold, so... fatal,
Embryonic dreams would never take flight.

A Princess from the fable, I would grow to be,
As the doctor went about his work,
Longing for a Prince to set me free-
I was numbed by a surgical dirk...

There is no room, for me, it seems-
The unfortunate result of sin.
Gaia's breasts, but with life, teems...
Yet, I am decreed: a has-been.

A future undone, a mother's strife...
A Freedom that never covered me.
"Please protect an unborn life"
This is my humble, dying plea...

(Afterword-)
"Alone on the cold table, silence cries...
Snatched in haste from a mother's womb,
It will be discarded once it dies.
The trash can will make-do as it's tomb."
---

Will be away from Blogsville for a week, populi. Au revoir.

Peace.

A beautiful poem there, which drew me even though I've not been that much into poetry for the last few months or so. The sensitive topic has been handled quite well.

Nicely portrayed, as always. Liked it a lot.

Keep giving us such treats.

I have always told you... that you should publish your poems .. :)
amazing strikes the right chord ...

It makes me ask - where are we heading ??? where exactly !!!

There is a movie called "matrabhumi" - a low budget movie ... that reflect what would happen if the world loses its women... Words like "Tenderness / care" completely lose their meaning..

strange that there are many who crave for a young one and there are others who spurn it.

I feel the sentiments in this poem..so deep and so full of incidents which occur in everyone's life. I really admire the expressions in the lines "A Princesss....surgical dirk" =)

Keep writing down so well, and making all of us bow down in appraisal =)

Dumbstruck. Hats off sir! I respected you a lot, now I respect you a lot lot more. Standing ovation. :)

It's rare that I cry after reading something. Very rare. And this has happened only once before, this poem made me cry the second time.

In awe,
Tara

Thank you so much for that lovely comment in Richa's space! Merci beaucoup! :) Made me smile a kilometre long smile! :D

Yes really, boo to those who don't know French (that means a half boo to me!)

And BTW, you have your first lesson from the (in)famous Tara's dictionary waiting in the comments box of '64 squares'. After reading that you can contact hit.it@taraswold.com for the best quality tomatoes and shoes! Side business you see! ;P

Sorry, I removed the word verif, some don't seem to like it. But as far as my Tamil goes, it's improving (at least I hope it is).

Have started learning the Kandha Sashti Kavacham (if I got that right) and am trying to get my pronunciation in place. Apparently, I would recite it perfectly as a child! *sigh*

Naan poitu varein. Paakalaam! :) (See see improvement :)
*show off!*

Neenga okkadrungo. Naanu okkandukkarein. (Eh?) (It seems okkachinkongo that I used earlier is used by little children! Huh!)

Tara :)

Cяystal said...

Gracias. You tell me, how've you been? Didn't hear from you since long.

Tara said...

Congratulations sir! Tara's dictionary is back and we wish you a great journey ahead!

Lesson number II

Invented word/phrase - Appakudai which according to our great author is Tamil for the Hindi phrase phir bhi. This phrase was coined by our author at the tender age of 3, and has since been used innumerable times to tease our author at every occasion! The author's periamma calls her Appakudai Tara lovingly! :)

Lesson number III

Invented word/phrase - Uyir le uyir vandhudhu
This phrase was used by the author after drinking a glass of chilled water, after a long shopping session in the burning sun. It is Tamil for the Hindi muhavra - jaan mein jaan aayi. Everyone in the room cracked up laughing and the author's mother (who too was drinking water) spat it out laughing!

Am having such a tough time trying to remember all these different usages because there are so many of them, it's tough to recall! But I am the official comedian of my family and no wedding is considered complete without my presence! *Aah! This sounds so good!*

Nokku theriyuma Skantha Sashti Kavacham? Good yaar! *sniff* :)

Have been trying to learn up some family history as well, like our gothras and all. I think we are Haritha gothra, and apparently all Haritha gothra fellows are my brothers! (How cool is that! ;)

---

Ok....I want to type more! I'll tell you about one funny incident. This happened at my cousin's wedding in Coimbatore last year. In my family, there are just two girls left who aren't married yet, one, my cousin Roopa (the one about to get married) and the other, ahem, me.

And you know how jobless all these old maamis are! They were talking about getting us married.
Utterly useless creatures, I tell you.

UM-Useless maamis, T-Tara (obviously!)

UM- Appe Roopa kku apram unn turn aa Tara? *with that silly laugh*

T-*angrily* Naan ippo school le dhaane irrukku! Adhukolle enna ongalukku?

UM- *laughing and I guessed my Tamil was wrong* Enga times le aeydhu school laan? Kalyanam dhaan important!

T- Achichoooo...! (fultoo maami style) Neenga avalo makkaa? *clapping hands and laughing very loudly*

And well, they ran away!

One of the funniest incidents ever yaar! One among my best! :D

---

As for the childish exuberance thing, you really think so? Well, I have tried my best not to lose it. It's so much easier to think like a child, things are far simpler that way.

My funda is simple. At the end of the day, I should get peaceful sleep, and my main motto is 'Do it in the moment'. No point regretting having not done something, say thank you and sorry in the moment...no shame. :) And don't hurt anyone or anything, person or animal. Basically lead a simple life, no need for unnecessary complications.

And what you call psycho-babble is really what one should talk about, and I am loving it! :D

Take care. :)

Will take sometime replying to your other two comments, have exceeded my break time already! Am hungry...need to get food for my soul...knowledge calling! ;)

Bye. Have a great day! :)

Kartz said...

Ha ha... So you are a bundle of energy there. Child-like, very. Good! That sure is refreshing to hear.

LOL! Your response sure shut them up! It reminds me of a pretty nasty joke. It goes like this - Old people would irritate me at weddings by pulling my cheeks and saying I was next. They stopped it when I'd say the same thing to them at funerals.

On a hindsight though, I take hearty pleasure in telling you this now - Route clear! *devil grin*

I shall continue with my psycho-babble once you are done with exams. ;)

Peace.

The anti-abortionist's pathos is quite self contradictory.

The rest, of course, is a repeat :D
"I would love to see what reasons you have for giving a child a living death. It should be our first priority to ensure that every child has the capability to live. Thats not helped by making more children whose parents are miserable bugs and do not give them values or support, if you think your not capable of bringing up a child to the best of your ability, dont have it (thats less burden for others too), but dont abuse evolution(it will end up in breaking yourself against nature, not in the survival of mankind, but its total destruction).
Look at the Taliban, they might overpower by population, but what would happen thereafter? The'll kill each other for control and power till they are forced to the same principles, if they dont change, then they will be destroyed."
